Important Enhancements for PSPP Members

Several enhancements to PSPP will take effect on January 1, 2027.

More members are choosing to work longer and retire later. The 2027 PSPP enhancements recognize these evolving career paths and provide additional opportunities to continue to build pension benefits. The PSPP Sponsor Board has approved enhancements to help the Plan keep pace with these changes.

What’s Changing?

Immediate Entitlement to Future Pension Benefits (Immediate Vesting)

Starting January 1, 2027, members will be entitled to the full value of their future pension benefits they have earned from the day they join PSPP.

Removal of the 35-Year Combined Pensionable Service Limit

Starting January 1, 2027, members will be able to continue earning pensionable service beyond 35 years. Members who have already reached the current 35-year pensionable service limit and stopped contributing will resume contributions and continue building pension benefits while they remain employed in a PSPP-participating position.

Recognition for Members Working Past Age 65

Starting January 1, 2027, members who retire directly from active membership after age 65 will receive a pension that better reflects their later retirement date.
